Press Release Summary: Special screening announcement of new film by Steven Rothblatt starring Didi Conn called \"Oh Baby!\" to support the campaign against Prop 8 and Equality for All!
Press Release Body: Hollywood, CA 19 August 2008 - Writer, Director Steven Rothblatt's new movie "Oh Baby!" will be the draw on September 7th at the Renberg Theatre to help bring awareness to a hot issue in this November's California election: Proposition 8 also known as the ban on same-sex marriage.
According to the No on Prop 8, Equality for All website, on November 4th "Californians will vote on Prop 8, a ban on marriage for same-sex couples in California. Prop 8 is trying to change the California constitution to only recognize marriages \"between a man and a woman.\""
"Equal protection under the law is a founding principle of the United States of America. Prop 8 undermines that principle, and singles out a group of people -- gays and lesbians -- for unequal treatment under the law. Marriage allows couples to make legal their lifetime commitment to one another, and gives couples the opportunity to fully take responsibility for each other."
Local Activist, Virsil Mitchell, and Steven Jimenez founder of GALAA have been working with Steven Rothblatt and came up with the idea of a special screening of his film "Oh Baby!" which humanizes the issues faced by the GLBT community. "Oh Baby!" starring Alex Craig Mann, Arianna, Didi Conn, Laura Ceron, and Paul Lieber, is the story of David, a young teacher who dreams of having a baby, but finds the girl of his dreams with unexpected consequences.
The Renberg Theatre at the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center in Hollywood has donated their facility for the evening of September 7th and tickets for the event are available online at virsil dot com for $15 with the proceeds going to Equality for All! This one-night special event will sell out quickly online with only 200 seats available. The supporters of the defeat of Prop 8 are asking Californian's to vote "No" and ask that regardless how you feel about the GLBT community, it is wrong to deny them the right to marry as it is a fundamental freedom of our society.
